Monmouthshire-based Afon Technology has secured three award shortlistings for its work to develop non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring technology.
The company is a finalist for Innovation in STEM and STEM Company of the Year at the Wales Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Awards 2026.
It has also been shortlisted for Technological & Innovative Business of the Year at the 2026 South Wales Business Awards.
The recognition follows Afon Technology’s development of Glucowear™, described as the world’s first non-invasive wearable blood glucose technology.
Glucowear™ is a pain-free continuous blood glucose monitoring device designed to remove the need for needles when people with diabetes check their blood sugar levels.
The company is working to turn the technology into a viable healthcare product that could transform how glucose is monitored.

The Wales STEM Awards recognise organisations and individuals helping to raise the profile of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Wales.
The winners will be announced during a ceremony at Techniquest Cardiff on Thursday, October 2.
The South Wales Business Awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and entrepreneurs across the region. Its 2026 ceremony will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff on Friday, September 18.
