Principality Building Society has appointed Pete Dockar as its first Chief Commercial Officer as the mutual strengthens its focus on commercial performance, technology and customer experience.

Dockar will join the Executive team in late September and take responsibility for bringing together the Society’s savings, mortgages, branch network and commercial lending operations.

Principality is the UK’s sixth-largest mutual and Wales’ leading customer-owned business. It also operates the largest branch network of any financial services provider in Wales.

The newly created role will focus on improving commercial outcomes across the Society’s product lines while balancing the needs of savers and borrowers in an increasingly competitive market.

Dockar will also oversee the use of data and technology to improve customer experiences, commercial performance and value for Principality’s Members.

The appointment follows Chief Executive Officer Iain Mansfield’s announcement at the Society’s Annual General Meeting in April that the business would renew its focus on improving digital outcomes for customers and Members.

Dockar joins Principality from Gen H, where he currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer and is responsible for the company’s growth, innovation and scale.

He also brings senior leadership experience from major retail banking organisations including HSBC and Virgin Money.

Iain Mansfield, Chief Executive Officer at Principality Building Society, said: “I am delighted to welcome Pete to the Society. His commercial experience and genuine passion for the role mutuals play in improving outcomes for customers will be invaluable as we continue to transform the Society for future generations of Members.

The role brings together our Savings, Mortgages and the Commercial Lending businesses under one roof – from the savings accounts Members open with us, to funding new homes across the country as well as helping people get the keys to their own home, it’s a role that will drive Member and customer value from the start.

Pete joining us is an important step in building the capability we need to succeed in a changing market, creating greater value for our Members and strengthen our long-term performance.”

Pete Dockar, incoming Chief Commercial Officer at Principality Building Society, said: “I’ve always believed that financial services should work around people’s lives – not the other way round.

I’ve spent my career helping people access the financial products they need to build security and achieve their goals, and that’s a mission that sits at the heart of Principality too.

I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and building on that proud mutual heritage.”
