Principality opens £270,000 funding programme for Welsh community organisations

Principality Building Society has opened applications for two community funds offering a combined £270,000 to charities, community groups and social enterprises across Wales.

The Future Generations Fund and Retrofit for the Future Fund are delivered in partnership with Community Foundation Wales. Both provide grants to help organisations create meaningful, long-term benefits in their local communities.

Applications for both funds will close on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Supporting children and young people

The Future Generations Fund supports organisations and projects working to improve outcomes for children and young people.

A total of £185,000 is available through this year’s fund.

More than £2 million has been distributed to charities and community groups across Wales through the fund since 2022.

Previous recipients include Cariad Communities CIC, which received support to tackle social isolation, help families and build healthier communities in Neath Port Talbot.

Stepping Stones North Wales, which provides one-to-one counselling for survivors of childhood trauma across North Wales, has also received funding.

Another previous recipient is Rhondda Netball, which helps girls become coaches and role models through qualifications and training.

Improving community buildings

The Retrofit for the Future Fund supports organisations seeking to improve the energy efficiency of community buildings.

Funding can be used for retrofit measures or to purchase environmentally friendly and energy-efficient equipment.

This year, £85,000 is available in grants for eligible projects.

The fund is designed to help organisations reduce their running costs and carbon emissions while making community spaces more sustainable for the future.
