Moneypenny has launched a new Apprenticeship Academy that will provide up to six young people with a route into employment at its Wrexham headquarters.
Delivered in partnership with Coleg Cambria, the 14-month programme will combine practical customer service experience with a City & Guilds Diploma in Customer Service.
The apprentices will work with businesses across sectors including property, legal services, healthcare and finance. They will gain experience handling calls and enquiries while receiving support from an on-site Coleg Cambria tutor and dedicated study time.
The initiative reflects Moneypenny’s approach to developing the human skills that will become increasingly valuable as artificial intelligence handles more routine business tasks.
Apprentices will learn how people and technology can work together to provide an effective customer experience, with a focus on empathy, judgement, problem-solving and personal communication.
The programme will begin with three weeks of training before apprentices move into practical customer service work to develop their skills and confidence. Those who complete the apprenticeship successfully could be offered a permanent position with Moneypenny.
The permanent, office-based roles are open to applicants aged 16 and over.
Successful candidates will be based at Moneypenny’s award-winning Wrexham headquarters, where workplace facilities include a treehouse, subsidised restaurant and on-site gym.
The company said the programme would also focus on helping apprentices feel supported and providing opportunities for professional development from their first day.
Wendy Swash, Chief Operating Officer at Moneypenny, said: “AI is changing the way businesses communicate, but that doesn’t mean there are fewer opportunities for people. In fact, it is making great human skills even more valuable.
“At Moneypenny, our people and technology work side by side. We have developed a highly capable AI Receptionist that gives businesses fast, consistent support around the clock. Alongside it, our brilliant people bring empathy, understanding and the personal connection that can make all the difference to a customer.
Our Apprenticeship Academy is a chance for young people to build their confidence, learn valuable skills and take their first steps into work. They don’t need any previous customer service experience. We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic people who enjoy talking to others, want to learn and genuinely care about helping people.”
Prospective applicants and their families can learn more at Moneypenny’s Apprenticeship Academy Open Evening on Thursday 3 September.
Visitors will be able to meet the team, tour the company’s Wrexham headquarters and ask questions about the programme.
Places for the open evening can be reserved through Eventbrite.
